Smart Oxford Challenge

Nominet hosted the first Smart Oxford Challenge in partnership WITH W3C on the 18th of September 2015.

On September 18th we worked with 13 teams who had ideas to use digital and hardware-based technologies to improve Oxford. Follow the announcements and coverage of the day on #smartox on Twitter and see pictures from the event on Flickr.

Selected teams

Selected teams received support on the day (business, technical, marketing or anything else you need) to develop their idea and showcase it to city officials and the press in an exclusive evening showcase. Ideas were selected on their ability to cater to Oxford’s unique challenges in new and innovative ways.

Why Oxford?

Much of the earlier smart cities work has been about establishing datasets and now we are looking at tackling the next phase of this movement, by developing solutions around the real needs of the citizen. We think Oxford is an ideal place to learn about and test these ideas which can then be replicated elsewhere especially in light of the Smart Oxford initiative.
